What is mini (IVF) in-vitro fertilization?

Mini-IVF bases on using drugs with lower doses and development of less, but more qualified ovum. After removal of developed ovum, fertilization is provided by microinjection technique.

Possibility of penetration of the embryos appeared after fertilization is higher and they are transferred into the patient. Actually, the difference in the treatment is the method for ovum development method. However, this treatment may be preferred for ladies whom much ovum can not be obtained unless high dose drug and qualified embryo is not developed, like drug-free ivf treatment. Achievement rates for mini-ivf treatment for ladies with advanced age and less ovum reserve is not less than other classical treatments. Ovum quality also reduces in general if high dose drug is used in these patients. The basis for mini in-vitro fertilization is development of ovum with patient’s own hormone and low dose drugs. If you have a regular menstrual cycle even FSH is higher, you have chance to get pregnant with mini-ivf.

Clomiphene or letrozole are used at 3rd day of the menstrual cycle like other classical treatments in the treatment and elevation of FSH hormone and stimulation of the ova are expected by the body. After a treatment period for 4 to 5 days, ova become 10 mm and larger in general. The treatment is continued by FSH and/or LH hormone without any discontinuation of the treatment. Ova become ready to be collected after an approximate treatment period for 2 to 4 days.

Another advantage of mini-ivf treatment is low cost. Because, a severe cost appears because of high dose drugs in addition to ivf costs in in-vitro fertilization method. Total treatment cost may be reduced by 30 to 40% with use of low dose drug.
